About Us
FACTS AND INFORMATION
Valley Electric Association is member owned and a
non-profit organization. Our members make up what Valley Electric
is and stands for.
That means service at cost - which provides you capital
credits, local ownership and governance.
We are a co-op and are owned by those we serve.
WHAT IS A CO-OP ANYWAY?
An electrical Co-op is an organization formed by
a group of people for the purpose of providing electric service
in an area that for many reasons has not attracted an investor
owned utility.
It's Charter and by-laws are drawn to provide for
the common interest and benefit. The Co-op is owned by those
it serves and administered by Directors duly elected by the
membership.
While a Co-op is a non-profit organization by nature,
sound long term planning and adherence to accepted business
practice should produce a margin. This margin is held by the
Co-op and used in a variety of ways to further the common interests
until payable to the membership in the form of capital credits.
Occasionally, the Board may direct other methods of payment,
such as Valleys' "Billing Credit" in the recent past.
Other Services That Are Available:
Long Distance Phone Service - Switch your service
to someone you know and trust - Call toll free 1-866-706-0004.
Outdoor Lighting - This is an option given to consumers
who want additional lighting on their property. Either Overhead
or Underground wiring is used to set up your outdoor lighting.
Installation includes a high-pressure sodium vapor light and
wire and it may be installed on existing poles. There is a
minimum fee per month per light for this service. Contact the
VEA main office at 727-5312 for additional information.
Automatic Payment Plan - This plan is an agreement
between VEA and the consumer authorizing the co-op to automatically
deduct your payment from your bank account. You will still
receive a statement from VEA explaining how much power was
used and the amount you were billed for that month. (See brochure
enclosed)
Balanced Payment Plan - This plan is offered to residential
members and allows them to pay the same amount each month.
The consumer must have lived at their present address for the
past 12 months. The consumer will arrange with the co-op to
pay the same dollar amount each month based on previous power
use. You can be on this plan along with the Automatic Payment
Plan, which makes it easy for you to pay your bill.
Underground Service Alert - Valley Electric Association
is a member of the underground service alert to help avoid
service interruptions and potential injuries resulting from
digging into underground utility facilities. Consumers can
call one number and utility companies will identify the location
of underground utility facilities.
Remember to call before you dig!!!! 1-800-227-2600
or 811.
