Distributed Generation (DG) 30kW or Less
These are systems that generate electricity from different small energy sources such as a photovoltaic (PV) system or a wind generator. These DG systems produce electricity which can be used by the member ordelivered to Valley Electric Association's system for an energy credit which may result in a reduced electric bill.
VEA does not supply or install distributed generation systems but it does allow interconnection to our facilities.
If you are considering installing a DG system and connecting it to VEA's system, please download the required forms below. Each form must be fully completed and signed by the member. Then the forms must be returned to VEA at 800 E. Hwy 372, Pahrump, NV 89048. Please contact VEA's Engineering Department at (775) 727-5312 if you have any questions.
You may qualify for federal tax credits by installing a DG system, please consult with your tax preparer.
Distributed Generation Systems 31kW or Greater
These generating systems require significant capital and detailed studies for interconnection.
Please contact VEA at (775) 727-5312 if you have questions.
If you are considering installing distributed generation at your home or business you might also consider becoming a net metering customer. Net metering is available to Valley Electric Association, Inc. (VEA) members who own and operate a facility that generates electricity from renewable sources such as hydro, wind or solar. Net metering facilities are intended to offset or meet all of your own electrical requirements.
Net metering measures the difference between the electricity you buy from VEA and the electricity you generate using your renewable generating equipment. It provides for customer-generators to be credited at the applicable rate in kilowatt-hours (kWh) at the ratio of 1:1 for any excess production of the generating facility that exceeds the customer-generator's on-site consumption of kWh in the billing period following the billing period of excess production. If you are interested in more information, please contact our main office at (775) 727-5312.
