VETA is a wholly-owned transmission cooperative association providing service to VEA and other entities. VETA currently has 324 miles of 230/138 kV transmission facilities. Current construction includes the transmission facilities and extending service to additional large scale customers.

PROJECT COORDINATOR AND OSP SUPERVISOR

Immediate opening for a Project Coordinator and OSP Supervisor to join our team. This position will be located at our headquarters in Pahrump, Nevada.

Key Responsibilities:  This position supervises the workforce of Broadband Installers and OSP Technicians in the construction, installation and maintenance of both residential and business OSP FTTx and wireless WiMAX facilities. This position will work with Engineering Consultants and contractors to coordinate and manage projects installing fiber-optic cable and conduit, performing field inspections of cable and conduit installations, collecting as-built data, and developing and managing an inventory of the fiber-optic network. The Project Coordinator and OSP Supervisor will be responsible for providing technical expertise, strategic planning and recommendations to management for new technologies and network applications in response to business needs. 

Required Education, Training, Experience, and Knowledge: Associate’s (AS) degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering or related discipline and a minimum of 5 years of job related experience is required for this position. Bachelor of Science degree in a related discipline and OSP Designer certification is preferred. The Project Coordinator and OSP Supervisor must have a minimum of 5 years’ of experience working in the field of OSP FTTx design and installation, including knowledge of construction methods and materials, and wireless technology (Wi-Fi, point-to-multipoint, point-to-point). 10 years’ experience in OSP design preferred, preferably in a planning or engineering capacity. The candidate must possess outstanding interpersonal skills, presentation skills, and writing skills.

BROADBAND INSTALLER

Immediate opening for a Broadband Installer to join our team. This position will be located at our headquarters in Pahrump, Nevada.

Key Responsibilities:  The Broadband Installer position is responsible for performing basic installations, disconnects, reconnects, service upgrades and downgrades, and relocates for residential single family, multi-family and/or multi-dwelling units and business (commercial) customers.

Required Education, Training, Experience, and Knowledge: High School Diploma or equivalency and a minimum of 2 years of experience working in the field of broadband installation, including knowledge of wireless technology (Wi-Fi, point-to-point).  Associate of Science degree in a related discipline and 4 years of job related experience is highly preferred for the Broadband Installer position.  The candidate must possess outstanding interpersonal skills, presentation skills, and writing skills.

IT ENGINEER

Immediate opening for an IT Engineer to join our team. This position will be located at our headquarters in Pahrump, Nevada.

Key Responsibilities:  The IT Engineer position will be responsible for providing the specialized technical skills and knowledge for the design, implementation, upgrade, configuration, and maintenance of the various enterprise hardware and software resident in the Cooperatives Broadband Network infrastructure.  This position participates in the technical research and development required for the continuing innovation of the Cooperatives network infrastructure.

Required Education, Training, Experience, and Knowledge: High school diploma and a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related discipline or a minimum of 10 years of job related experience.  The IT Engineer position must have a minimum of 6 years’ experience with networking architecture, server hardware and operating systems including, but not limited to; domain controllers, servers, security appliances, Storage Area Networks (SAN) and virtual environments (VMWare is preferred).  CCNA \ CCNP or qualified experience with Cisco products, Alcatel-Lucent Network Routing Specialist I and II (NRS I and II) certification, and Service Routing Architect (SRA) is highly preferred.  Must be proficient in the utilization of the following; Windows Server 2003/2008 and Linux RedHat, Virtual System Infrastructure (VMware vSphere 4/5 VMware View 5), SAN Technology (storage administration, iSCSI, Fiber Channel), TCP/IP Networking, Disaster Recovery planning and strategies, Network Security, Simple and advanced routing including BGP and OSPF, Spanning Tree, VLANs, and ACLs. In-depth knowledge of DHCP and DNS.  Strong knowledge of IPv6 and Alcatel Lucent Network Routing is highly preferred for this position.  Must be willing to attend continuing education courses as required.

OSP TECHNICIAN

Immediate opening for an OSP Technician to join our team. This position will be located at our headquarters in Pahrump, Nevada.

Key Responsibilities:  The OSP Technician position is responsible for the construction, installation and maintenance of both residential and business OSP FTTx and wireless WiMAX facilities. TECHNICAL SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE

Immediate opening for a Technical Service Representative to join our team. This position will be located at our headquarters in Pahrump, Nevada.

Key Responsibilities:  This position will be responsible for customer service work which involves assisting new and current customers in person and by telephone, receiving new broadband service orders, scheduling new service installations, receiving and providing customer service information, troubleshooting customer broadband issues and providing resolution or escalating the issue, and maintaining related records and files.  The Technical Service Representative position requires excellent communication skills to provide information to management and consumers in the most effective manner that will create goodwill between the Cooperative and its membership.

Required Education, Training, Experience, and Knowledge:  High School Diploma or equivalency, one year of applicable front line customer service experience and comprehensive computer skills is required for this position.  Additional academic accomplishments in communications, computer hardware/software applications and previous knowledge or working experience at a utility highly preferred.  For the Technical Service Representative position, previous experience working in broadband technical support highly preferred.  This position must have the ability to learn the associated hardware and software systems as they pertain to the Cooperatives Broadband computer systems.  Must be willing to attend courses relating to his/her area of work.

NETWORK ARCHITECT AND SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR

Immediate opening for a Network Architect and System Administrator to join our team. This position will be located at our headquarters in Pahrump, Nevada.

Key Responsibilities:  This position will be responsible for providing technical expertise, strategic planning and recommendations to management for new technologies and network applications in response to business needs.  The Network Architect and System Administrator works with internal partners to evaluate and design solutions for business and customer requirements, which will integrate with and enhance the network.  The Network Architect and System Administrator applies complex design principles and methodology to ensure cost-effective and optimal use of resources and technology without jeopardizing network integrity. This position will also be responsible to provide the specialized technical skills and knowledge for the building, upgrading, configuring, and maintaining of the various enterprise hardware (and virtual) server and computer systems, operating systems and associated software, used by the Cooperative.  This position participates in the technical research and development required for the continuing innovation of the Cooperatives’ Broadband Infrastructure.

Required Education, Training, Experience, and Knowledge:  Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related discipline (BSEE, BSCS, BSET) and a minimum of 8 years of job related experience.  Must have a current Alcatel-Lucent Network Routing Specialist II (NRS II) certification.  Service Routing Architect (SRA) and Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Certifications are preferred.  This position must have a minimum of 8 years’ experience with networking architecture, server hardware and operating systems including, but not limited to; IP/MPLS, optical transport, Radius, DNS, IPv6, wireless (Wi-Fi, point-to-multipoint, point-to-point).  10 years’ experience in Service Providers preferred, preferably in a planning or engineering capacity.  The candidate must possess outstanding interpersonal skills, presentation skills, and writing skills.

SUPERVISOR OF LANDS

Immediate opening for a Supervisor of Lands to join our team. This position will be located at our headquarters in Pahrump, Nevada.

Key Responsibilities:  This position is responsible for decisions that involve the revision of policies and procedures necessary to achieve objectives, and for the overall stewardship of the Cooperative’s right-of-ways, easements, fee title lands and water rights and acquisition thereof. 

Required Education, Training, Experience, and Knowledge:  The Supervisor of Lands needs to have a college degree in land surveying or related field or a combination of education and experience.  A professional survey license is preferred, but not required.  A minimum of five years related industry land surveying and/or right-of-way supervision experience is required for this position.  Experience with land surveying, easement law and right-of-way corridors.  Experience with CAD and GIS programs.  Alternative equivalencies to this experience may be considered appropriate and acceptable at the discretion of VEA.   For the Supervisor of Lands position, a thorough knowledge of the following is needed: related industry and standards of practice, safety compliance; federal and state laws and regulations, local knowledge of municipal requirements and relevant experience with Bureau of Land Management policies and processes.

MANAGER OF REGULATORY COMPLIANCE

Immediate opening for a Manager of Regulatory Compliance to join our team. This position will be located at our headquarters in Pahrump, Nevada.

Key Responsibilities:  The Manager of Regulatory Compliance position is responsible for providing compliance oversight and advisory support to VEA for NERC reliability standards.  This position will oversee development and maintenance of NERC procedures and initiatives, report on NERC and FERC compliance activities and initiatives, and attend NERC and Regional Entity committee meetings, conferences, and seminars, as necessary. 

Required Education, Training, Experience, and Knowledge: Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Legal Engineering or related is required.  The Manager of Regulatory Compliance position requires a minimum of five years related industry NERC compliance experience and experience with electric utilities and information technology systems.  Alternative equivalencies to this experience may be considered appropriate and acceptable at the discretion of executive management.

Key Responsibilities: The Engineering Technical Assistant is responsible for providing advanced, diverse and complex administrative support to the management of engineering and other engineering personnel of the Association.  Other responsibilities include analytical, technical and operational projects that support the Association’s business and strategic mission.

Manager of Business Development

Immediate opening for a Manager of Business Development to join our team. This position will be located at our headquarters in Pahrump, Nevada.

Key Responsibilities:  The Manager of Business Development position is responsible for managing all sales and marketing of products and services within the VEA service territory and other approved geographic areas.  Other responsibilities include ensuring consistent, profitable growth in sales revenues through positive planning, deployment and management of sales personnel.  This position identifies objectives, strategies and action plans to improve short-term and long-term sales and earnings.

Required Education, Training, Experience, and Knowledge:   The Manager of Business Development position requires a high school diploma and a bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Business or related discipline with a minimum of 7 years of job related experience in broadband marketing and sales; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.   Must be well versed in the design, configuration, repair, and maintenance of the telecommunication systems.  This position must have a basic working knowledge of IT systems and the network security.  Advanced knowledge and background in wireless communications, fiber optic systems and computer networking is desired.  Must have sound knowledge of the proper and safe use of the tools and equipment used in the installation and maintenance of communications equipment.  Additional experience in a supervisory position and tower climbing experience is preferred.  The Manager of Business Development must be willing to attend continuing education courses as required. Must have a strong ability in developing marketing and sales strategies.  This position must be skilled in human relations to effectively carry out the responsibilities of the job.  Must possess good oral and written communications skills to be able to effectively communicate with others.

Telecommunications Network Supervisor

Immediate opening for a Telecommunications Network Supervisor to join our team. This position will be located at our headquarters in Pahrump, Nevada.

Key Responsibilities: This position is a working supervisor position which will be responsible for providing supervision and oversight to the Telecommunications and Information Technology divisions of the Broadband Services and Operations department, as well as providing operational support for the Telecommunications and Information Technology division.  This position will work with management to develop short and long term goals to meet future growth, and will have the knowledge and technical skills to effectively manage and support these areas.

Required Education, Training, Experience, and Knowledge:  The Telecommunications Network Supervisor position requires a  high school diploma and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronic Communications or related discipline and a minimum of 4 years of job related experience, or an associates’ degree in Computer Science, Electronic Communications or related discipline and 6 years of job related experience.  This position must have a minimum of 4 years’ experience working with the design, implementation, operation and maintenance of telecommunications, telemetry and networking equipment.  Experience working with SCADA communications in a utility environment is preferred.  Two years’ experience working in a supervisory role is strongly preferred. For the Telecommunications Network Supervisor position, advanced knowledge and background in wireless communications, fiber optic systems and computer networking is desired.  This position must have sound knowledge of the proper and safe use of the tools and equipment used in the installation and maintenance of communications equipment.  Must be willing to attend continuing education courses as required.
