EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF BROADBAND SERVICES AND OPERATIONS
Immediate opening for an Executive Vice President of Broadband Services and Operations to join our team. This position will be located at our headquarters in Pahrump, Nevada.
Key Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of the EVP of Broadband Services and Operations is to serve as the department head of the Cooperative’s subsidiary, Valley Communications Association (VCA), overseeing all aspects of the operations, budget and broadband access portfolio. The broadband access portfolio includes Fiber To The Home (FTTH), wireless internet (WiMAX, LTE, Wi-Fi) and video services (Broadband Services). This position also manages and directs all phases of the computer and telecommunications systems of the company to ensure reliability and state-of-the-art communications and technological systems. This position will be accountable for accomplishing these responsibilities in a manner that promotes the strategic decisions of the Board of Directors, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer.
Required Education, Training, Experience, and Knowledge: This position requires a four year degree from an accredited college or university with a major in business administration, telecommunications, or other related technical field. Master’s degree preferred.
A minimum of 15 years of increased responsibility and experience in operations and deployment in the telecommunications industry, with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in managing the work of others, and maintaining effective relationships, both within and outside the organization is also required. Field operations experience highly preferred.
Other skills/knowledge/experience required for this position includes, but is not limited to: strong knowledge of broadband services; working knowledge and understanding of applicable state and federal regulatory requirements related to broadband services; knowledge of budgeting and forecasting; excellent analytical and strategic planning skills, demonstrated leadership skills; ability to drive change in an organization where operational responsibilities are shared; strong time management and prioritization skills; and demonstrated ability to execute multiple projects and to excel in a fast-paced, results-oriented work environment.

POWER SYSTEM CONTROLLER
Immediate opening for a Power System Controller to join our team. This position will be located at our headquarters in Pahrump, Nevada.
Key Responsibilities: The Power System Controller position is responsible for operating the Valley Electric Association, Inc (VEA) distribution system and the Valley Electric Transmission Association, LLC (VETA) transmission systems as a NERC-certified system operator to provide optimal reliability for our members and customers.
Required Education, Training, Experience, and Knowledge: High School Diploma or equivalent. Must be NERC certified as a Transmission Operator (TO, BT or RC certification) and remain current on all continuing education requirements. Five years of experience at a utility with emphasis on operation of power systems, including; transmission, distribution, power marketing/scheduling, or balance and interchange, or any equivalent or related combination of education, training, and/or experience may be substituted for requirements listed above.

Immediate opening for a Journeyman Lineman to join our team. This position will be located at our headquarters in Pahrump, Nevada.
Key Responsibilities: This position provides specialized technical skills and knowledge for construction, conversion, relocation and maintenance of the electrical transmission and distribution lines throughout the area served by the cooperative. Employee will effectively provide service to customers, creating goodwill between the Cooperative and its membership.
Required Education, Training, Experience, and Knowledge: High School Diploma or equivalent and certified as a Journeyman Lineman. A minimum of 6 years in appropriate field. Must have a thorough knowledge of equipment, tools, materials, and services used by electric utilities. Must have knowledge of State and Federal laws related to construction. Must have thorough knowledge of the Description of Units, specifications and drawings for line construction of transmission and distribution voltages; and a thorough knowledge of operating and construction procedures and practices of electric transmission and distribution organizations. Must be proficient in and possess a Medic First Aid Card (CPR inclusive). Must obtain and maintain a current commercial driver’s license (CDL) per Nevada State Department of Transportation Regulations. Must have the ability to deal with co-workers and customers in a courteous and professional manner.

Immediate opening for a Substation Technician to join our team. This position will be located at our headquarters in Pahrump, Nevada.
Key Responsibilities: The Substation Technician is responsible for the day to day operations and maintenance and trouble shooting of the substations and switch yards. With appropriate supervision, performs all of the duties of metering, distribution, maintenance, and other duties within the department. Monitors, maintains, repairs, programs, and tests all substation-related relays and controls. The successful applicant will test and commission all new substation equipment, including power transformers, high-voltage breakers, circuit switchers, and capacitor banks. The Substation Technician will also work with the Communications Division to install, commission, and maintain VEA’s SCADA system, including radios, RTU’s and all other related equipment.
Required Education, Training, Experience, and Knowledge: High school diploma or equivalent, and certified through an approved apprenticeship program or documented equivalent experience. Five years’ experience and knowledge in testing and maintaining substation equipment highly desired.
