VEA is a member-owned electric cooperative based in Pahrump, Nevada, with a certified service area covering more than 6,800 square miles in Nevada and California. VEA presently provides service to over 24,000 services with 2,120 line miles of distribution facilities and 13 substations.

VETA is a wholly-owned transmission cooperative association providing service to VEA and other entities. VETA currently has 324 miles of 230/138 kV transmission facilities. Current construction includes the transmission facilities and extending service to additional large scale customers.

VEA is a participating transmission owner and load serving entity in the California Independent System of Operators Corporation (CAISO). This is a unique and exciting opportunity within the cooperative's history.

Manager of Lands & Surveying

Immediate opening for a Manager of Lands & Surveying to join our team at our headquarters located in Pahrump, Nevada.

Key Responsibilities: The Manager of Lands and Surveying is responsible for the overall stewardship of the Cooperative’s right-of-ways, easements, fee title lands and water rights and acquisition thereof, including, but not limited to: supporting the design of transmission line and substations; supervising the support services for construction of transmission line and substations; directing the acquisition of right-of-ways, easements, fee title lands and water rights; preparing and directing the preparation of legal descriptions, maps and supporting documents for said rights; providing and directing staking for construction of transmission lines, distribution lines and ancillary facilities; providing and directing the organization of records for all of right-of-ways, easements, fee title lands and water rights and maintaining such in manner consistent with policies and procedures of the Cooperative.

Required Education, Training, Experience, and Knowledge: College degree in land surveying or related field or a combination of education and experience that would qualify for this position.  Successful candidate must be professionally licensed in the State of Nevada or be able to obtain such registration within twelve months of hire date.  A minimum of ten years related industry land surveying and/or right-of-way management experience.  Knowledge of land surveying, easement law and right-of-way corridors; skill in the use of related computer software applications; ability to deal with co-workers, customers and the general public in a professional and courteous manner.  Alternative equivalencies to this experience may be considered appropriate and acceptable at the discretion of the Cooperative.

Key Accounts Coordinator

Immediate opening for a Key Accounts Coordinator to join our team at our headquarters located in Pahrump, Nevada.

Key Responsibilities: Incumbent will execute Valley Electric’s Key Accounts Program which will aid in meeting the strategic needs and goals of the cooperative, including, but not limited to; serving as the primary contact point between Valley Electric and key accounts or potential key accounts, developing and implementing of key account marketing plans, obtaining an increasing knowledge and understanding of the industries in which the key accounts members operate, representing the cooperative in industry and trade organizations, providing support during major outages, updating information on the demographics and psychographics of all key accounts, working with local and state economic development personnel to cultivate opportunities for existing and new key accounts, gaining basic knowledge of distribution systems, commercial and residential HVAC, wiring, alternative energy systems and distributed generation, providing members with objective information on energy related and non-energy related service choices, performing marketing duties, assisting with district and annual meetings, the promotion of new programs, in the planning and scheduling of cooperative member education.

Required Education, Training, Experience, and Knowledge: Incumbent must have a four year college degree, with five years of related experience, or a combination of directly related experience and education. Completion of the Certified Key Accounts Program and previous Key Accounts and/or Operational experience highly preferred.

Journeyman Lineman

Immediate opening for a Journeyman Lineman to join our team at our headquarters in Pahrump, Nevada.

Key Responsibilities: Completes the construction, conversion, relocation and maintenance of the electrical transmission and distribution lines throughout the area served by the cooperative.

Required Education, Experience and Knowledge: High school diploma or equivalent and certified as a Journeyman Lineman. Minimum of 6 years in appropriate field. Must have a thorough knowledge of equipment, tools, materials, and services used by electric utilities.  Must have knowledge of State and Federal laws related to construction. Must have thorough knowledge of the Description of Units, specifications and drawings for line construction of transmission and distribution voltages; and a thorough knowledge of operating and construction procedures and practices of electric transmission and distribution organizations.  Ability to deal with co-workers and customers in a courteous and professional manner.
