Ambassador Program

What is the Ambassador Program?

Welcome to the Ambassador Program!! This is a grassroots program designed to educate our members about Valley Electric Association, the electric utility industry and enlist support and involvement. This unique program will afford you the opportunity to interact and work directly with the staff and directors specifically on policies, procedures, and programs.

In addition, it is our goal to enlist member support in shaping both the future direction of the cooperative and public policy. Legislators want to hear directly from our members – the voters. The more voters they hear from, the more they will listen to what we have to say.

How does it work?

This program will allow you to give feedback and opinions on specific power issues, policies, procedures, legislative issues and learn how Valley Electric gets its power and what each department does within the organization! You will learn how the cooperative conducts business and see first hand what some of the challenges are that the cooperative faces on a day-to-day basis. You will have a voice in the co-op allowing us to better serve our members.

Who can join?

Valley Electric needs members who care about their community  and take an interest in their electric cooperative.

Those who sign up must be a Valley Electric Association member and live in our service territory.

 When do we meet?

We will meet quarterly or as needed.  Our meetings will be in a roundtable discussion session where we will address various items and discuss them in detail with you.

At our first meeting, we would like to conduct a series of sessions to introduce you to the inner workings of VEA. We will also incorporate an “Electricity 101” class, and show you how Valley Electric Association operates and how we differ from other utilities. We want you to understand how our organization works from the inside out.

What are the details?

Our objective is to enlist member support through education and involvement.

We would like you to assist us in the following:

  • Be a part of our decision-making process
  • Shape Policy
  • Become an educated partner
  • Provide direction on current information
  • Receive feedback from you on our initiatives and programs
  • Enlist your support for our goals and objectives
  • Provide Legislative Assistance by enlisting support for the co-op
  • When requested, write letters or e-mails on how a piece of legislation or policy affects your co-op
  • Call your legislator’s office to notify him/her of your views
  • Meet with your elected leaders and staff to state your concerns about industry-related issues.

How do we get started?

There are several ways:

  • You can pick up a brochure from our main office at 800 E. Highway 372 and fill out the form included with the brochure.
  • Call us at 775-727-5312 and we can mail you a brochure and you can mail it back to us with the completed form.
  • We can fax you a copy to fill out and you can fax it back to 775-727-6320.
  • We can e-mail you the form and you can fill it out and fax it back or drop it off at the office.

We will then notify you of the details for the meeting.

We look forward to working with you and feel we can come together as partners to accomplish one common goal!
